YCSD Volunteer for  the Month of September  2007

Tabb Elementary

County School
Division

Congratulations to Tabb Elementary School’s "Volunteer of the Year, " Amy Nickol.

It is a pleasure to recommend Amy Nickol for the Volunteer of the Month award for Tabb Elementary School.  She is currently a TES parent, as her son Connor attends 2nd grade.  Amy exemplifies the true meaning of what volunteerism is all about.  She has made it her mission to support the students, parents, and staff in ways that improve the quality of the school.  Amy has always been very involved at Tabb, but this past year stepped up to the plate even more.  In the middle of the year she agreed to become PTA president when the current president moved due to military orders.  Under Amy’s leadership, this organization has grown; both in membership and in the way it provides for the needs of the school.  She ensures that all programs directly support academic instruction.  Amy is a go-getter.  Tabb has already benefited from several grants she has applied for and received.  One example of Amy’s vision for parent involvement was the recent “Boo-Hoo/Yahoo Breakfast” for incoming Kindergarten parents.  Due to her efforts, over eighty parents became acclimated to the school while interacting with staff members and other parents.  She does all of this while caring for her 2nd grader and her three year old, Emma.  She also coordinates church and neighborhood programs as well.  It is an honor to present Amy Nickol with the Volunteer Award for Tabb Elementary in appreciation for not only her hard work, but also for her vision.

Comments, questions and concerns.
