Can I turn in
assignments late and receive credit?
Do you offer extra credit? When can I make up a test or quiz I have missed? Is Mr. Pelkey available for help or tutoring? Why doesn't Mr. Pelkey round grades? Can I turn in assignments late and receive credit? Yes, it is possible. In US History, students receive a maximum of half credit if the assignment is handed in late one day, and it is worth zero credit thereafter. World History students may receive up to half credit until the day of the test or quiz for the unit the assignment was given, and zero credit thereafter. Do you offer extra credit? Yes, on two conditions:: 1. The student has turned in all assignments (no missing work). 2. The student does not have an A in the course. Also note that extra credit is given at Mr. Pelkey's discretion. For example, I likely won't allow you to do an extra credit assignment the night before a grading period ends; you should have approached me well before. When can I make up a test or quiz I have missed? Schedule a time before or after school to make up tests and quizzes. On rare occasions, you may be able to make-up the work in class or at some other point during the day, but keep in mind that my schedule and your schedule may not match. Is Mr. Pelkey available for help or tutoring? Yes. Talk with me about when you would like to stay after. While I am at school after classes most days, I will typically have one or two days set aside for tutoring. Why doesn't Mr. Pelkey round grades? The York County School Board established the grading scale, which is indicated in the student handbook. Therefore, letter grades are determined by that scale. |
