Government Projects (2007-2008)
Two projects are required each quarter.
Late projects – THOSE NOT TURNED
IN WHEN COLLECTED IN CLASS (unless an excused absence) will receive an F.

Note:
Each quarter there is one mandatory selection.
1st Quarter
1.
Campaign
poster (any candidate running in this year’s race) ***Mandatory*** 1ST PROJECT
2. Work for a candidate of any party (4 hours minimum). Verification required (Worth 110 pts).
3. Make a poster/visual presentation illustrating the different forms of government.
4. Make a poster/visual presentation illustrating basic concepts of democracy.
5. Make a poster/visual presentation illustrating the major parts of the Constitution and their importance/meaning.
First

project due October 31/November 1 by class meeting odd/even
7th
period is ALWAYS first date
2nd Quarter
1. Make a poster/visual presentation on a Congressman (his life, his positions on issues, etc)***Mandatory
2.
Write a letter to your Congressman about an
issue that concerns you (**LETTERS MUST
BE TYPED, DOUBLE-SPACED, USING CORRECT LETTER FORM). Be sure topic is appropriate as
a concern to a member of Congress. **Include
stamped envelope. See Mrs. Shriner for more information.
3. Make a poster/visual presentation illustrating Congress’s powers.
4. Make a poster/visual presentation illustrating how a bill becomes a law.
5. Make a poster/visual presentation illustrating the different job duties of a Congressman.
First

Second
project due January10/11, by class meeting odd/even
7th period is ALWAYS first date
3rd Quarter
1. Make a poster/visual presentation about a President (past or present). 1ST PROJECT

Be a president and have a “press conference.” (minimum
5 minutes)**See Mrs. Shriner for further details

5. Make a poster/visual presentation on a federal agency.
5. Make a poster/visual presentation on the powers of the president.

1. Select a US Supreme Court justice (past or present) and prepare a biographical presentation (with visuals) on him/her. ***Mandatory*** 1st PROJECT
2. Select a Supreme Court case and prepare a visual presentation showing the importance of that case and the impact it has had on history.
3. Select an amendment and illustrate (visual presentation) the impact on your life.
4. Illustrate (visual presentation) a civil right and its impact on your life.
