§         An extra assignment

§         Loss of privileges

§         Seat change

§         Clean-up duty

§         Parent contact

§         Art detention

§         Written-up

If your behavior choice is such that more immediate action needs to be taken no warnings may be given and immediate consequences will be given which may or may not include anything from the above list (i.e. fighting = immediately sent to office).

How will I be graded?

-         Homework/quizzes = 15%

-         Tests/Class work = 20%

-         Projects = 65%

o       Projects will be graded according to:

§         Effort, work ethics during the duration of the project

§         Composition, following the elements and principles of design

§         Neatness and Professionalism

§         Creativity and Difficulty

§         Project Requirements/directions (these change with each project, are discussed at the beginning of the project, and are written on the board for the duration of the project)

Assignment Expectations:

-         Work not turned on time will result in the loss of 1 letter grade (approximately 9 points).  Any late work must be turned in 1 week after the due date or it will not be accepted for that quarter.

-         Homework assignments are due at the beginning of class ONLY.  Homework not turned in on the due date/time will receive NO credit.

-         You will not be given additional time to make up missed assignments or replace zeros (see excused absence policy for the ONLY exception).

-         Be sure you put your name (first and last name) and period number on your project.  Failure to put your name on the project will result in the loss of 1 letter grade, and a zero in the grade book until the project is claimed.

-         Place your project in the assignment folder or assignment bin.  If it is not turned in to the appropriate folder or assignment bin it will be considered late even if it was completed on time.

-         You are expected to be self motivated and disciplined in your studio work habits.

-         Keep all handouts and notes in a folder.  This will be checked on occasion for a grade, plus you will need to study the material for any quizzes, tests, and or exams (ALL of which are written, I do not give projects for tests or exams)

-         If you have any questions about your grade, please see me after class or after school, NOT during instructional time.

Grading and absences:

-         If an absence is EXCUSED the student will have a grace period of 1 week to turn in the assignment.  This is designed to give the student ample time to make arrangements to stay after school, work during lunch (if approved), or take supplies home (if allowable) to complete the assignment.

-         If the work is not completed within that 1 week time frame no credit for that assignment will be given.

-         Work that needs to be made up cannot be done during class time so the student does not fall further behind.  The student is responsible for completing and turning in the work within the 1 week grace period.

-         Unexcused absences DO NOT fall under the grace period and work will be due as scheduled.  If an assignment is turned in the day of the absence the assignment must be turned in at the beginning of the next class.

-         My website has a current calendar of what is being worked on in class.  If you are absent please refer to the website at home to stay up to date on what we are working on.  Upon your return check with me, or a classmate, for what you missed.

-         It is YOUR responsibility to make-up what you missed during your absence.  Being absent does not excuse you from the work we completed.  And please do not assume we did nothing while you were out, we are always doing something in class.
