Recital
Week Everyone prepare for Recital Week in early spring. Recital week is “show and tell” for the music classroom. During recital week, students are encouraged to perform a musical selection of their choice that they have learned outside of the music classroom. Piano, instrumental, and vocal selections are all welcome. Vocal selections may be performed with an accompanying CD only if the lead vocals are not on the CD. The performances will happen during each class’s regularly scheduled music time. Family members are invited to attend. Practice hard Dare!

Recorders All 4th and 5th grade students will play the recorder. We will begin with the Recorder Karate program, which allows students to earn a karate belt for each level of recorder playing. I am sure every student will earn their black belt! The cost for the recorder is $5.00. Please have your child turn in their money during music class. As soon as everyone has turned in their $5.00 the recorders will be ordered. If you are in the 5th grade and still have your recorder from last year you do not need to order another one. http://www.musick8.com/rkdojo/rkdojo.tpl Practice your recorder online! Just click on the Recorder Karate link, enter your username and password, and practice away. There are three tempos for each online recorder piece. Start by practicing the slowest tempo and slowly work up to the fastest tempo. The recorder piece must be memorized to test for the karate belt.
