Who: Peninsula Association of Legal Suport
What: 2008 Legal Scholarship
How much: $500
Criteria: Must be interested in the legal field, minimum 3.0 GPA. 3 letters of recommendation
Deadline: 12:00 noon on February 14, 2008

Who: American Fire Sprinkler Association
What: Essay competition-  700 to 1000 word essay on the topic: Residential automatic fire sprinklers

How much: $1500 for 1st place; $750 for 2nd place, and $500 for 3rd place.
Criteria: Any Virginia school senior
Deadline: Bibliography must include applicationa and essay. Must be postmarked by February 1, 2009

York Retired Teachers Association
What: Retired Teachers Association Scholarship
How much:  $5,000 scholarship from the State level
Criteria: Min GPA 3.0, Must have an interest in the field of education only ONE Grafton student can be selected

Who:
NWS Federal Credit Union
What: 2008 Howard T. Burcher Memorial Scholarship
How much: Cash award of $1,000
Criteria: Must be a member of the NWS Federal Credit Untion with his/her own account number as of 2/29/08.  Applicant must be a graduating high school senior. Each applicant must write an essay between 250-500 words and include 3 recommendations.
Deadline: Applicantion with essay and recommendations must be submitted no later than February 29, 2008 to the NWS Federal Credit Union

Who: Virginia Tech
What: Pamlin Leader Award
How much: $1000.00
Criteria: 3.75 GPA, leadership experience, letter of recommendation
Deadline: February 1, 2008
One GHS student will be awarded this distinguished award.

Who: Virginia State Golfer's Association
What: Virginia Golf Foundation
How much: Numerous scholarships awarded in various denomenations
Criteria: Interest in golf, high GPA and test scores, citizenship/character, essay, financial need, 3 letters of  reference.
All applications must be made on behalf of the candidate by a member of  VSGA.
Deadline: Must be received February 29, 2008

Who: Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Virginia
What: Historical essay contest
How much:  4- $3000 awards
Criteria: Max of 1,500 words and judged originality, organization, development, and style- Topic is related to the Virginia Declaration of Rights
Deadline: Must be postmarked by Feb. 22, 2008

Who: Virginia Airport Operators Council
What: John R. Lillard VAOC Scholarship
How much:  $3,000.00
Criteria: Must have a GPA of 3.75(unweighted), planning a career in aviation, accepted to an aviation related program at an accredited college, ESSAY required
Deadline: February 20, 2008

Who: Virginia Airport Operators Council
What: Willard G. Plentl VAOC Scholarship
How much:  $1,000.00
Criteria: Must have a GPA of 3.5(unweighted), planning a career in aviation (in a non-engineering area), accepted to an aviation related program at an accredited college, ESSAY required

What: Scholars Awards
How much: $1000.00 each

Who: University of Michigan
What: College of Engineering and College of Literature, Science and the Arts The Gloria Wille Bell and Carlos R. Bell Charitable Trust Scholarship
How much: $80,000 over four years of undergraduate study to students selected from Virginia, with a preference given to residents of the Gloucester, Virginia area.
Criteria: Students persuing degrees in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or another related scientific field at the University of Michigan.

Who: Kentucky Friend Chicken
What: KFC Colonel's Scholars
How much: up to $5,000 per year for tuition, fees, textboos, room and board
Criteria: Minimum High School GPA of 2.75 pursuing a bachelors degree.  Must be a graduating high school senior enrolling in a public college or university within their state of legal residence.  Also must demonstrate financial need

Who: Ronald McDonald House Charities
What: RMHC Scholarship Program
How much: minimum of $1,000 although amounts may vary in program areas.
Criteria: Graduation senior, US Residents.  In addition to RMHC Scholars, there are scholarships specific to the following criteria:
                -One Parent of Asian-Pacific heritige
                - One Parent of Africant American or Black Caribbean Heritage
                -One Parent of Hispanic Heritage

Who: Carver Memorial Presbyterian Church
What: Annase Wilks Hill Memorial Scholarship
How much:  $1,500 ($500 per year up to three additional years will be awarded the student provided she remain eligible
Criteria: Must be an African American female majoring in engineering, math or science at a four year institution.  Minimum GPA is 3.5 and include 3 letters of recommendation with application.
Deadline: February 28, 2008
