Advanced Physical Education

Course Description: The 11th and 12th grade classes are set up on an elective basis.  The curriculum and tests are physically difficult.  The curriculum and tests are physically difficult.  The students will weight train 2 days a week and run daily.  On alternate days of weight training they will participate in such activities as Ultimate Frisbee, Basketball, Volleyball, Lacrosse, Flag Football and recreational activities.

Weight Room Activities
During the first week of dressing out each student will initiate a single set and circuit training workout.  There are 9 required stations, pull-ups, sit-ups,bench press, military press, triceps, bicep curls, jump rope, hip sled, squats.  These stations are the core of the workout but each student can add other stations.  If a female athlete can not do pull-ups they must substitute with 30 push ups.

The daily runs may include distance workouts up to 2 miles or sprint workouts.

Grading
40% dress
40% skills tests
20% written tests

If there are no written tests in a quarter 60% will be skills tests.

Skills Tests
Every quarter the following tests will be given.  12 minute run, mile run, 800 meter run, 400 meter run, Jump rope, push-up, bench press, sit-up, and pull up test.

Semester Exam will be on the weight room and fitness information

Extra Credit:  One afternoon each quarter can stay to run a mile and a half in exchange for one skills test.
