COURSE SYLLABUS

Welcome to 7^th grade Civics and Economics. “This course focuses on gaining essential knowledge of the U.S. and Virginia constitutions and the structure and functions of government institutions at the state and local levels. Students also learn the basic principles, structure and operation of the American economy.” (York County Program of Studies) The textbook we will use is American Civics. Homework assignments will be written on the board in the classroom. You are responsible for copying the assignments into your Agenda. Student grades are based on a numerical average of tests, quizzes, homework, class work and projects using the York County Grading Scale. Students will be allowed to make corrections on quizzes and tests and return them with a parent signature for partial credit (this does not apply to quarterly assessment tests). Please keep this syllabus as the first page of your Civics/Economics notebook.
