DESIGN BRIEF:
Defining Engineering Drawing & Design
Introduction
Engineering drawing & design is defined as the primary method of
communication relating to the design and manufacture of parts. What
does this definition mean to you? How does engineering drawing &
design impact society?
Challenge
Visually define engineering drawing
& design by creating a digital
essay (click to see a sample). Your digital essay
should visually communicate the definition of engineering drawing &
design and its impact on society.
Equipment / Materials Needed
1. Microsoft Powerpoint Software
2. Internet Access
3. Digital Camera and/or Scanner (optional)
4. Media (network space, flash drive, CD-RW disc, etc.) to store your digital images and essay
Procedure
1. Visit any of the internet sites listed below. From these sites, research and collect images of parts & engineering design principles in action in your world. You MUST use the sites listed below, and these sites only, from a CAD lab computer. For example, you may not search for images using the Yahoo, Google, or other similar search engine from the CAD lab's computers.
2. Optional: You may also use a digital camera or scanner to take pictures of parts around your home or work place. However, these images must be supplemental to your research of the Internet sites below.
3. Organize, insert, and manipulate your images on an MS Powerpoint slide in such a way to communicate the definition of Engineering Drawing & Design.
4. You must also use the "Word Art" feature of Powerpoint to create a title of your slide. The title must read "Engineering Drawing & Design."
5. Print out your slide and turn in by due date.
