Summer Camp Opportunity
NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office
and Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve System are
sponsoring a Summer (day) Camp - "Using Technology to Observe the
Bay". The camp will run July 7-11, 2008 from 9 am to 4 pm at Virginia
Institute of Marine Science. Students will learn about the Bay using
various observational tools, including side scan sonar, water quality
monitoring instruments, and mapping tools. There will be hands-on
exploration of wetlands, underwater grass beds, and Bay critters.
Qualified Students must:
- Have a keen interest in learning about the Chesapeake Bay
- Be able to work effectively in group settings, as well as individually
- Enjoy outdoor activities, and not mind getting wet and dirty
- Have transportation to and from VIMS
20 total students will be
selected to participate in the program and full scholarships will be
