Geometry Course Expectations and Procedures

Welcome to Geometry! This is a very exciting and important course for you. Geometry is a great teacher for thinking and reasoning skills that stay with you throughout life. And, of course, you’ll get to take an SOL test and must pass this course to graduate. I will work as hard for you as you work for your own success in this class. A good year needs a good start; here are some important things to help you with that good start.

Course Description and Objectives

This course offers a study of plane, three-dimensional, and coordinate geometry. Methods of justification of theorems include proofs, flow charts, and verbal arguments. It emphasizes 2- and 3-dimensional reasoning skills, coordinate and transformational geometry, and use of geometric models to solve problems.
The state SOL and the York County Curriculum Guide will be used as a framework for this class.
