Quarter 1:  Impressionist art & literature;  Discovering French Rouge, Unit 3:  outdoor activities, the natural environment, weather, natural phenomena, passé compose,  l’imparfait, passé simple, Classical period, Literature:  La Fontaine, Prevert, Rostand.

 

Unit 4:  Going shopping and asking for services,; object pronouns, double object pronouns, en, indefinite expressions of quantity, faire + infinitive, the Minitel, classical musicians; other music in the Francophone world.

 

Quarter 2:  The TGV 7 Eurotunnel, French Revolution, Napoleonic Era, La Marseillaise, Victor Hugo: Les Miserables, Unit 6:  Sejour en France, deciding where to stay; reserving a room, asking for services in a hotel; comparing people, things and places, lequel, celui, le mien, the Guide Michelin, France in the 20th; the Maghreb.

Quarter 3:  Unit 8:  Cities and City Life; making dates, explaining directions, discussing the advantages of city life, pluperfect tense, conditional tense, “si” clauses and past conditional tense:  French-speaking Caribbean islands, historical background, literature and film, Cesaire; Rue Cases-Negres.  Unit 9:  Personal relationships and family life; relative pronouns and clauses, reciprocal and reflexive pronouns, a typical French wedding.

Quarter 4:  Western and Central African franchophone world, art and literature.

Unit 10:  University studies and careers, planning a career, looking for a job, the present participle, explaining the purpose of an action,:  Pour + infinitive, Pour que + subjunctive mood; expressions used after the infinitive and subjunctive mood;  how important academic success is to French youth, le bac, military service, interviewing for a job, French presence in North America, Canada, and Louisiana, French explorers.
