How to do well in German

  1. Adequately prepare your homework.
    • Do it at home.
    • Do not slap it together during Channel One.
    • "Sie war nicht am Strand? Sie war in einem Ferienlager. Or Möchtest du ins Kino gehen? Or Er soll sein Deutsch verbessert." While doing your homework, if you do not remember the underlined words, look them up and relearn them at home! Especially since we already went over them in class. Do your part and relearn them at home. They are the words that will fail you on a test, quiz, or exam.
  1. Pay attention and focus in class.
    • Have your homework ready to be checked and corrected.
    • Have your book out and turned to the correct page while we are correcting homework.
    • Pay attention, make corrections and ask questions during homework time.
    • If you have been absent or forgot your homework, open your textbook and notebook and get it done while we are correcting the assignment. Join in and participate.

III. Study your vocabulary list each night. Make sentences orally with the words.

IV. Come for help before or after school whenever you need it. If you have test anxiety, come before every test, quiz or exam.

V. Speaking German in class is very important. You do not learn German by speaking in English. Refrain from "social chatter" and speaking in English.

VI. Keep your notebook organized and bring it with you to class. Keep all your handouts and papers organized in your notebook. Don't lose them.
