York County Learning Competencies/Objectives: YCO#1: The student will read, discuss, interpret, and write about representative works selected for study. Focus is on reading for content and developing analytical skills. YCO#2: The student will be able to understand formal and informal oral presentations prepared by native speakers. Focus is on global understanding of lecture, classroom presentations, readings, plays, television and radio broadcasts, and movies. YCO#3: The student will further develop the ability to communicate in both formal presentations and spontaneous conversations. Focus is on increased accuracy, appropriateness of speech, and incorporation of advanced grammar.
