REDUCING FRACTIONS
  • To reduce a fraction DIVIDE
  • the numerator and the denominator by their GCF.


  • example:  Reduce the following fractions.

TURNING IMPROPER FRACTIONS INTO MIXED NUMBERS
  • A fraction is another way to show DIVISION.  Divide the numerator by the denominator.
  • If there is a remainder that number becomes your NEW NUMERATOR.  The denominator stays the same.
