ESSAY PROMPT-

ESSAY 25pts
How should a person approach death?  During the Victorian Age, several writers explored this question.  These writers looked for a way to face death with dignity and truth, but their answers to the question varied widely.  Select at least three works of literature from this unit that deal with facing death.  In a well organized formal expository essay, compare and contrast the attitude toward death expressed in each selection.

Check Your Writing Did you quote specific poems that illustrate your claim? Do the main sub points of your essay support the thesis statement? Will your paper persuade someone that your opinion is correct? Did you use specific examples? Is your introduction effective? Are your ideas well organized? Do you have a variety of sentences? Did you choose words that will help your readers understand? Can readers hear your voice? Did you revise, edit, and proofread for:Spelling? Capital letters? Punctuation? Subjects and verbs that go together? Consistent verb tense? Adjectives and adverbs that work? Pronouns that match the nouns they replace? Words that show possession? Legible handwriting?

FORMAT-

  • Three ring binder/folder with the various pages completed correctly about you.
  • The cover must be decorated, stating the Title of your book and your name.
  • There must be a Table of Contents listing the correct pages in the correct order.
  • Everything is to be a FULL PAGE single-spaced
  • Every page must be illustrated!  This can be from personal artwork, collaged from magazines, or downloaded from the internet/computer.  The illustrations MUST be appropriate to the page, meaning, they should compliment and further expand the effect of your writing.

An obituary attempts to gives an account of the texture and significance of the life of someone who has recently died. It is to be distinguished from a death notice, which is a paid advertisement written by family members and placed in the newspaper either by the family or the funeral home.

Grading
Each page is worth 10 pts for you as is the Cover and the Table of Contents for a total of 250pts
 First 100 pts due on May 8/9th
Second 100 pts due on May 22/3rd
Final COMPLETED PROJECT is due on June 2/3rd

Late penalty is the standard 10pts per calendar day
