Revenge, he needs it. Payback, he will get his. He must have it this
time, he must.
It's pitch black outside, but he has no fear tonight. For he is the
predator, not the prey. He ignores the sounds of the leaves crinkling
beneath his feet, because his mind is elsewhere, focused on one thing,
death. As he walks towards the highway, he notices the headlights of
passing cars flashing by. As he lays like an injured deer on the side
of the road, he sees many cars pass him by. All of whom are too scared
to stop and help him. But one shows sympathy, and in that makes the
biggest and last mistake of his life. As this man climbs out of his
car, trying to be helpful, he climbs into the arms of death. As he
stands up, he notices the shocked look on his face. "Are you okay sir?"
Assuming he is dead, the man calls an ambulance. Hearing it in the
background the killer says, "That ambulance will not be coming for me".
Immediately he pulls out his knife and finishes the job, ignoring the
screams of this innocent man. As he hears the sirens whirring closer,
he thinks to himself, "At last, my revenge".
As Jeff Wilson settled in at his desk, the news came on saying, "Good
morning and welcome to the early news at six. Today we have terrible
breaking news. A fifth man was killed in this string of murders. Every
murder has taken place on Highway 64, where it began last Sunday, and
there has been a murder once every week, always after darkness falls.
Police have no evidence of the killer, even though he makes no attempt
to hide the bodies. He is a very cunning, quick, and also psychotic
man. We would just like to warn you, if you are traveling down 64 after
dark, be very aware and careful." Jeff was worried. "The only way home
for me is down 64, and I always get out of here late!" Jeff said to his
coworker, Shelly. "Don't worry Jeff. Just don't stop, and be very
careful," replied Shelly. "I know, I know, but I can't help worrying,"
said Jeff with a concerned look on his face. Shelly replied, "Jeff,
stop it. You're worrying me now. Thousands of people go down that road
every night, why would the killer pick you?". "You're right. I don't
need to worry about this. I'll just be extra careful tonight." But Jeff
couldn't help being nervous. When he left work later that night, all
thoughts of murders were out of his mind. Then he saw a man flagging
him down on the side of the road. His face whitened, he began to sweat
uncontrollably, and he gripped the steering wheel as if it was the last
thing in the world. He forced himself to keep driving, and was scared
out of his mind all the way up to his own bedroom. He took his
painkillers with a faint feeling of nervousness, which immediately made
him drowsy. As he passed into his subconscious world, all thoughts of
fear and worry left his mind, and one thought took over.
Revenge, he will have it. Payback, he will get his. This time he must
have it, he must.
