A Love That Binds (A found poem after The Great Gatsby)

A man of cruel fractious strength;
A brute, and a pessimist.
Careless and restless
Aggressive and sharp.
A rotten snob.
A man with a sharp temper,
A perturbed and sinister creature.

He had more in common with his neighbor than he would ever know.
He loved another who hoped for the past.

Both men were bound to get ahead.
Each had a power that was their own.
Loneliness, and knowledge motivating their actions.
Love making them act like little boys.

Both have lost something of grave importance to them.
One still holding on to a lost love.

A perfect sophisticated gentleman.
Enchanted in a way all his own,
Determined to love,
A celebrated person with excitement in his eyes.
Glowing with life.
He believed in the future and had hope for society.
He let hope for the past, and the party of love and loneliness control his life.
