SoaP FAQ
SoaP is an incredibly
clever acronym for School of the Arts Publications.
At the very least this year, members of SoaP
will create a quarterly online literary
journal, showcasing the work of students in every grade level and
discipline
of SOA. SoaP will also include a team of
journalists who cover SOA events, both through photography
and through writing news articles and feature stories
(also for the web). Beyond these two
primary foci, SoaP could go so far as to include video documentation of SOA events and
productions, a 12-page yearbook
supplement for SOA students, and redesign and/or maintenance of the SOA
website. The scope of SoaP
depends entirely upon the
interest and energy of its members.
SoaP is any interested SOA student. Students will have a chance to experience all
of the different aspects of publication, or they may choose to
“specialize” in
one area. I will need an
“editor” or two
to help me keep things organized and moving along.
These students should be those who can make a
fairly substantial after-school time commitment to the organization.
When is SoaP?
SoaP will meet regularly
on Wednesday afternoons from 2 to 3. Sometimes
we’ll need to meet for longer in order to put things together
when it comes to
publication crunch time. Your personal
time commitment to SoaP (after the first 3 meetings) should include
your
participation in at least one meeting per month. Editors
should plan on attending 3 of 4
monthly meetings. If you are
interested
but overbooked, or if you are a SOA morning student, we can potentially
work
out some “special assignments,” so please see me if you are
interested.
