This Modern-Day World

There are some people who believe
That the world is going to end;
And when that happens
I will hold you close to me
And whisper sweet nothings
As the mysteries of the universe
Are revealed to us, and us alone.
I believe the world is ending already;
So hold my hand [like this]
As we make it through the horrors
Of this modern-day world.
I wonder if there even are mysteries,
Or if this, right here, is it.
