A broken wall with wrenching steel
Bricks fall down, paint cracks and peels
An F-150 with some broken glass
Memories begin to fade at last
The sounds of change are put to rest
A deafening calm silences best
Flowers sit now in an open field
This painful image -- a life is sealed
The illusion of this change follows after
Halls resound with jokes and laughter
But in the field -- the enduring epitaph
"Lord forgive him, let him rest, then pass."
Gone with dignity and a painful grace
The timeless victim in a forgotten place.
