YCSD Testing/Scores - DRP

Degrees of Reading Power
(DRP)

As part of its continuing effort to ensure that students acquire the skills necessary for effective reading comprehension, the York County School Division will administer the Degrees of Reading Power (DRP) assessment beginning in the 2005-2006 school year. The DRP will be administered to students in grades 3-8 in the fall and in the spring.

The DRP monitors students’ reading comprehension levels and assists teachers in providing appropriate reading instruction for students. DRP results indicate students’ understanding of what they have read and also provide a source of information about students’ annual reading growth. Scores from the DRP assessments do not affect students’ grades.
