Queens
Lake Middle School
is located in a quiet, wooded setting that is part of the Bruton
District of York County. It lies adjacent to historic Colonial
Williamsburg and to the College of William and Mary. Its proximity to
these facilities, and also to Jamestown and Yorktown, allows students
to take advantage of unique cultural opportunities.
In the
fall of 1966, our
school opened as Queens Lake Intermediate, for students in the northern
end of the county. During the 1992-1993 school year, it became Queens
Lake Middle School and expanded to include sixth grade students so that
today Queens Lake has sixth, seventh, and eight graders attending. In
September 2004 Queens Lake completed a Multi-Million dollar
renovation. A new hall and classrooms were added along with
significant changes and improvements to the existing infrastructure and
building.
Queens
Lake Middle School
is unique in that it is the smallest middleschool in York County, with
an enrollment of 540 students. The smallness of the school encourages
teacher cooperation and allows each teacher the opportunity to know the
students as individuals.
Student-centered
and
offering a challenging and progressive instructional program, Queens
Lake Middle School provides students with a safe and secure environment
that is nurturing, conducive to learning, and prepares students for the
future. Our dedicated and innovative staff values the diversity of our
students and the involvement of our community and our parents.
New to
Queens Lake in the
2005-2006 school year is the Middle School Magnet for the arts. Click
