SECTION 9.5.19 - EXTRAORDINARY EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE An extraordinary educational experience is an educational opportunity for students to be involved in a learning setting outside of the school division for a period of time that exceeds five days but is less than one marking period. Students apply to participate in an extraordinary educational experience and, if approved, receive all applicable grades and credits. While extraordinary educational experiences can have merit, the school division encourages students and parents to limit excessive, extended absences from school. Application for and approval of an extraordinary educational experience include consideration by the school principal, parent, student, and appropriate teachers. Guidelines and procedures for the extraordinary educational experience are established by the Superintendent. ADOPTED: May 21, 1990 |
