Language Arts

In Language Arts we will be using the Scott Foresman reading series, which will include an intergation of reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, grammar and writing.

Each Monday students will receive a Family Times Packet, which includes information on the week's spelling and vocabulary words, the reading and grammar skill along with several spelling practice sheets.  This packet should be completed during the week and turned in on Friday.

Reading

Reading fluently and comprehending what is read are important life-long skills.  Each fourth grader is required to read nightly to help improve these necessary skills.  As with any area, practice makes perfect.  Please set aside fifteen minutes nightly for your child to read independently or together, with you.  Snuggling together over a good book is a great way to spend a cold winter evening.
