Process for Course Completion
 

Step 1:

  • Watch the video called "Tracking Theresa"
  • Ask yourself the following questions:
    • Can this really happen or is it glamorized?
    • Is there anything on your personal blog space (MySpace, Gaia, Facebook, etc.) that gives away personal information?
    • What about your friend's blog sites?
    • What can you do as an individual to ensure that all information posted is safe and not too personal?

Step 2:

  • Have you ever thought about how you spend your day? How much time do you spend online versus doing other activities? Some students spend a large majority of their average day on the internet while others may spend a small portion.
  • Complete the excel link called How I Spend My Time Online . Take an average day in your life and try to analyze the percentage of time spent online. Remember, all activities must equal 100%
  • Now compare your chart to Other Teen Statistics.
    • How do you compare?
    • Are you similar to most students your own age or do you stand out?

Step 3:

  • How "Much is Too Much" information when you are online?
  • Go through this short quiz Play it Safe online. As you go through the quiz write down notes to remind you what to changes you need to make when you are online. Do you need to change your screen name? Take down some identifying information? Are you already Playing it Safe?

Step 4:

  • How much do you know regarding new online technologies? You may know certain activities because you do them every day but you might not know the actual terminology used to describe it.
  • Go through this short presentation on Online Vocabulary.
  • Write down some of the words on paper. You may come across them again during the online assessment.

Step 5:

  • Click through the slide show called P.I.G.
  • The information will help guide you in your decision making while interacting with all web applications.
