Graduation Requirements: In order to graduate, a student must complete the course requirements for one of three diplomas offered in York County Schools. Each counselor will meet individually with their seniors early on in the fall to make sure that students are registered for the correct courses, discuss post secondary plans and help make this important year go well.

Post-Secondary Plans: 4-year college, 2-year college, apprenticeship, military, vocational/technical training, or work. At this point, you should have a good idea of which way you are headed.

Transcript Requests: When an official transcript is required for college admission or scholarships, a “Transcript Request” form is to be picked up in the guidance office, completed, and returned to Mrs. Adams, the Guidance Secretary with a stamped envelope addressed to the college you are applying to.  Many college applications have a section or page that is to be completed by the high school guidance counselor. This must be submitted with the transcript request form! Please do not wait until the last minute to submit your request. The Guidance Office has 5 working days after the request is received to prepare and mail the necessary documents which include test scores, counselor’s recommendation if requested by the college, and an official copy of the student’s transcript.

College Representative Visits: Many college admission officers schedule visits to meet with GHS students who might be interested in attending their college. This schedule is kept in a notebook in the Guidance Office. If there is a college you are interested in, sign up in guidance and you will receive a pass on the day of the visit.

Attention College Bound Student Athletes

All high school athletes wishing to compete in college must register with the NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse at www.ncaa.org. The Student Release Form (SRF) is critical. By filling it out completely and signing it, you are authorizing Grafton High School to send your transcript and test scores to the NCAA Clearinghouse. You are also authorizing the Clearinghouse to send this information to all colleges requesting your eligibility status. Print a copy of your completed registration form. When printing, you will receive two copies, copy #1 and copy #2. Give both copies to the Guidance Secretary who will then send copy #1, along with an official copy of your high school transcript to the NCAA Clearinghouse.
