- Clippers Show Some Grit....Come Out On Top So far this year, being down a run and down to their last out in the 7th inning
would have proved to be too much for the Clippers to overcome. But yesterday they decided enough was enough.
Anthony Maldonado singled and promptly stole 2nd base. Then Ryan Wagner came through with a single to plate the tying run
and send the game into extra innings. Robbie Brownschidle then came through with a 2-out run-scoring single in the 8th to secure the come-from-behind
win at Smithfield yesterday. The score was 4-3. Robbie also pitched the 7th & 8th to earn the win. John Bayse pitched 6 strong innings yielding only 2

Score Jamestown Box
Score The Grafton Clippers won once and lost twice over the break. They beat Jamestown 4-2 in a solid win to start the break. Kyle Pelchy was solid on the bump pitching 6 innings for his 2nd win of the year. Dion Wilder had a big 3-run double to key Grafton's 4-run 4th inning! Grafton then dropped their next two games to Denbigh and Bethel. The Clippers gave gutty efforts in both games but came up short in the end. After scraping across 4 runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings Denbigh would score 3 in the 6th to take the lead and eventually the game. At Bethel, Kyle Pelchy carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning but even it was not enough as he took the hard-luck loss. With 2 outs, Bethel scored 2 runs on a double, triple, and wild pitch to tie the game. They would then go on and score the winning run in the bottom of the 7th to secure the victory. pitched well in relief of starter Sam Hilsman. John Bayse was 2-3 with a home run and Dion Wilder chipped in a 3-run home run as well
for the Clippers. The 3-time defending district champions are now 3 games out of first place and have their work cut out
for them if they harbor any hopes of a 4th. They will try to pick up the pieces and put forth a much better effort this Friday at Jamestown.
Game time is 4:30pm. 03.28.07
- Tabb Too Strong For Grafton The Tabb Tigers played solid defense and swung the bats well as they
earned the win yesterday over the home team by a score of 7-2. Porous defense in the early innings kept the Clippers
in trouble and allowed Tabb to play with the lead the entire game. The Clippers were not without their chances though as they
stranded 8 runners on base in the first 3 innings alone. The Clippers have to put this one behind them as they host
a dangerous New Kent squad today. Game time is 4:30pm. 03.26.07
- Grafton Earns Solid Win At Southampton The Clippers used solid defense and timely hitting to earn a win against a stingy Southampton squad by a score of 7-1. - Grafton Overwhelms Bruton The Clippers scored 13 runs in the 1st inning yesterday and went on
to beat an overmatched Bruton squad 20-3 to even their record at 1-1. Kyle Pelchy had a career day going 3 for 3, hitting two home runs
including a grand slam, and had a total of 7 rbi's! He was also the winning pitcher. Ryan Wagner chipped in a grand slam home run of his own and
freshman Tristan Maldonado was 3-4 with 3 runs scored in his first varsity start. Grafton banged out 17 hits total. The Clippers return to action on Friday with a road trip
to Southampton. Game time is 4:30pm. 03.20.07
- Poquoson Shuts Down Clippers The Islanders used strong pitching and defense to shut down the Clippers in the season opening game for both teams. After a rough 1st inning, John Bayse settled down and pitched well but critical errors continually allowed Poquoson
scoring opportunities. The Clippers had some opportunities to score but simply could not get the clutch hit when needed. They will get a chance to bounce back soon though as they host Bruton today. The 1st pitch is set for 4:30pm. 03.16.07
- Poquoson Game Post-Poned Due To Rain Today's game @ Poquoson has been re-scheduled for Monday at 4:30pm. 02.12.07
