Over the past decade the name of Grafton High has gained a positive reputation and well earned respect, not only for its success on the athletic field and on the court but also for the high standards it represents. Our coaching staff is dedicated and motivated, parental support is consistent, and the cooperation of the administration and staff is obvious. Certainly, a most important focus in our success is the quality of the student-athletes who compose our 34 athletic teams and four Virginia High School League sponsored academic teams. The 41 members of our coaching staff will attest that our student- athletes are highly dedicated and willing to sacrifice to achieve success in the classroom and on the field.
Of the hundreds of GHS student-athletes, only a few excel to the point of individual public recognition in the form of scholarships and post season honors. It is an often over looked fact that many of our kids work diligently without complaint while displaying an admirable loyalty to their team. It is those students who seldom win any form of recognition or praise that constitute the backbone of our teams. As the athletic director my goal for this year is to make sure these less gifted athletes are recognized as valuable team members.
In conclusion, the 2007-2008 athletic year should bring Grafton further recognition and success. I would like to thank all who participate in our VHSL programs for their support and cooperation. CLIPPER PRIDE is a reality in every phase of Grafton life because our student body and parents are so supportive of Grafton High activities.
