School Mascot: Clipper
The custom-designed school seal incorporates many facets of the era of the CLIPPER ship. The school seal is enclosed with a rope border to signify strength and unity. The square knot at the bottom is the most widely recognized knot showing a beginning and an ending and is a symbol for strength. To be a tall clipper, the ship must be a large square-rigged sailor carrying three or more masts. The three billowing sails are to symbolize the greatness of power, speed and diligence to move forward in the right direction. The main sail is divided into three areas. The telescope symbolizes looking toward the future from the education and motivation received at Grafton High School. The sextant is the compass to find this direction and to help guide the "Clippers" to success. The clipper ships were the fastest ships of their time. They were the first ships to sail around the clock and use lanterns to guide their way and to mark their location. The lantern has always been a symbol of knowledge and education. The rope rigging in the background is used to climb the heights of the mast and to set the sails and go in the right direction. The flag at the top of the mast signifies the 1996 founding date of Grafton High School.
Grafton's school colors are red, navy, and silver.
