Winter season wraps up with success for all teams

Winter teams performed well this season.
Boys basketball finished 16-7 and
placed fourth in the district. Seniors
Patrick Moore and Kevin Linhart finished in the district’s top 15 for scoring.
Girls basketball had a
character-building season with juniors
and underclassmen playing together at the varsity level for the first time. The
indoor track team made it to the state competition. The 4X800-meter relay team
was a state contender .The girls 4X200-meter relay team placed in
regionals. Wrestling finished with an outstanding season with
their top two wrestlers Chase Ennis and Keith Person taking home first and
fourth places in the state competition.
The swim team had a successful season
with many swimming at states,
including Ryan Hartman, Megan Holloway, Colleen Ward, Brittney and Brook Evans,
Lauren Bass,Matt Brown, and Kevin Chen.
Indoor Track
“We had a good season. A lot of people went to states and
one went to nationals. We finished third place in the district. We’re really
proud of ourselves and hope we can meet the same standards next year,” said
junior Grayson Yang.”
Wrestling
“Our coaches push us hard at practice which help us at
meets. Sometimes practices are really tough but if you push through it it’s all
worth it. I’m really proud of my teammates for doing so well. We’re all like
brothers on the team,” said Joe Haslem.
Girls Basketball
“Even with a young team, I think we played our best and played
well. Overall, I’d say we had a successful season,” said Brie Baxley.
Boys Basketball

“Our season had many ups and downs but we had a good
season despite the letdown of losing to lower seeded teams,” said junior Morgan
Cannon.
Swimming
“We as a team had a very successful year. A lot of us
improved and a lot of the younger swimmers made it to states...States was
really fun and exciting, an opportunity of a lifetime. I love Grafton
swimming!” said senior Matt Brown.
Cheerleading
“This year’s squad had more seniors and it was more laid
back,” said Danielle Sadrack.
