Spring gives athletes  an opportunity to test their athletic ability. Even with summer only a few months away, athletes train rigorously to play up to their expectations.

Soccer, baseball, softball, tennis, and track teams practice to pick up where they left off last year and achieve new goals that they have set. Many coaches are pushing their players in order to beat their biggest rivals.

“Track just started but I’ve been conditioning for a while,” said junior Lauren Clark. Clark ran indoor track last season while playing basketball in order to stay in shape for spring track. Other athletes, such as soccer players, have been playing for an indoor team or a travel team during the off season.

Our team this year is pretty strong - five out of the top six are returners. We’re looking to go all the way to states, but our biggest competition is Jamestown,” said senior Chris Stough.

“We have a young team with only two seniors, but we’re hoping that we’ll have a winning season. All of our top six are returners and we’ve improved a lot,” said senior Shannon Esher.

Girls Soccer

“Our goal is to beat Lafayette and prove our opponents wrong. The girls are all like a family since a lot of us have been playing together for several years.,” said Nicole Cunningham.
