"Mrs. Machie"

Kathy Machie

Fifth Grade Teacher

It’s been my pleasure to be a teacher here at Grafton Bethel Elementary for all of my ten years as a full time teacher. During those years, I’ve taught second, fourth, and fifth grades.

My educational experiences include a BS in Psychology and teacher certification from Christopher Newport University, where I was a member of Alpha Chi honor society. As part of my (and all teacher’s) ongoing educational requirements, I’ve participated in programs at Old Dominion University, and I’ve completed coursework at William & Mary and Shenandoah University.

In my spare time (which is hard to find from September to June), I enjoy several things. First and most importantly, I love spending time with my family. I also like completing crossword puzzles, cross-stitch projects, and painting projects (which I never seem to finish!). Finally, I love to read! Some of my favorite authors are John Grisham, Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye, and Dr. James Dobson.

I feel very blessed to be a teacher, because I consider it to be more a calling than just a career.
