Margaret "Peg" Fuller
Special Education in Behavior Support Class It is great to be a special education teacher at Grafton Bethel Elementary School. I love this school—everything about it—students, parents, PTA, teachers and staff, and administration. I am proud to be a part of such a wonderful group.
I am a Newport News resident of 26 years. My husband and I have two adult children. Both graduated from public schools in the city. My daughter is a freshman at Goucher College in Baltimore; my son is in his first year of graduate school at UNC-Chapel Hill.
My children are my greatest pleasures in life. I love reading, the arts, walking, and shopping. I enjoy going to the beach and the mountains as well as exploring cities. I like learning about other cultures and languages.
Although I am a native Iowan, my family roots are in upstate New York. My childhood years were spent at the edge of Lake Erie in Ohio. As a teenager I experienced the pine barrens of southern New Jersey and the big city life of Philadelphia.
My undergraduate degree is in psychology from Union College, Schenectady, New York. As an undergraduate I became very interested in how people think and learn. I worked in a state day treatment center with autistic children.
I continued my studies at the University of Connecticut with a federal scholarship from the Department of Education. I earned a master’s degree in Educational Psychology, and I became certified to teach special education.
My professional experiences include agency work with Headstart, rural and urban public school teaching, itinerant and classroom teaching, assessment, and private psychiatric hospital education.
I look forward to working with your children!
