BRUST’S BUNCH

The students in Ms. Brust’s classroom are working on the basics in Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies every day. Good looking, listening, touching and choosing are the skills emphasized. All of the students use wheelchairs and/or a variety of walkers, standers and assistive technology to access their learning environment.

Inclusion activities are strong at Dare. Ms. Brust’s students are picked up for and welcomed into all the general education resource classes. Everyone likes….

A brightly animated computer screen!

A good game of balloon volleyball in the Gym!

A rousing parade of songs in Music!

A suspense-filled story or two in the Library!

A colorful paint or glue project in Art!

A happy session with puppets in guidance!

Brust’s Bunch continues practicing, with all their teachers and therapists, the art of moving, eating and communicating on our own. We are encouraged by our many friends. We know we belong in this exciting place called SCHOOL !

Here, again, we share...

The Power of Believing

by Pati King-DeBaun

Believe that all students can learn and have the right to.

Believe that all students can communicate and have the right to.

Believe that all students have the right to choose and should be given opportunities to do so.

Believe that there is always hope.

Believe that small miracles are the best.

Believe that all movements, signals, cries and gestures are a form of communication.

Believe in patience.

Believe each individual has something positive and valuable to share with you.

Believe that if there is a will there is a way.

Believe that you have something positive to give to individuals with severe and multiple disabilities.

Believe that all students need to be cognitively challenged.

Believe that if you believe, the child will believe.
