Mission
We are dedicated to instilling in children a lifelong love for
learning.

Registration
Registration for the 2009-2010 school year for
Kindergarten and New Students in grades 1 through 5 is now underway. If you
need to register your child for the upcoming school year, please click on
the link below and call the school office at 898-0362 to schedule an
appointment for registration.

Floor
Tile Removal
During the summer the floor tiles in the
older sections of the building will be removed. Teachers have already begun
to pack up books and other materials in preparation for this event. Seaford
Elementary and Bethel Manor Elementary will also have tiles removed from
parts of their building. The school board office will be contacting
parents soon
regarding some of the details involved in this process at the 3 schools.

Mr. Carter or Dr. Howard if you have any questions.

Achievements
that Inspire Dolphin Pride
Virginia Board of
Education Excellence Award
Dare has been
presented with a Virginia Board of Education Excellence Award. This
award is given to schools based on the achievement of students that
exceeds the Commonwealth’s accreditation standards and minimum
requirements for the No Child Left Behind Act for at least 2 consecutive
years.
Odyssey of the Mind
Dare’s Odyssey of the Mind team is eligible to
attend Odyssey world finals following their successful performance at the
state Odyssey of the Mind competition. World finals will be held at
Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa May 27 through May 31, 2009.
Virginia
Title 1 Distinguished School
For
the second year in a row, Dare has been recognized as a Virginia Title 1
Distinguished School. This recognition is based on student achievement
during the 2007-2008 school year.
Congratulations
to Mrs. Callaway
Kathy Callaway was honored with a YCSD Apple
Award. The Apple
Achievement Award is designed to recognize outstanding service or
achievement. This award is based on the idea that numerous individual “acts
of excellence” enable the division to meet and exceed its goals and
expectations.
Dare’s Teacher of the Year,
Kathy Callaway was also selected as the Elementary School Teacher of the
Year for the York County School Division.
In addition, Mrs. Callaway was awarded a
$2000.00 grant from Lowes to complete the Old Oak project for Earth Kids
Club.
