The active support of volunteers in the York County School Division has proven to be a valuable asset for our schools. The involvement of individuals, business personnel, and community members provides a wealth of experience, knowledge, energy, and resources for our students.
We welcome both parent and non-parent volunteers in our school division. However, for the protection of our students and for the security of our schools, we require that all non-parent/ non-guardian volunteers provide us with two references and agree to a background check. The Division's Associate Director of School Administration will call each reference, and the background check will be completed through the Virginia State Police. The background check will include Criminal History Record and Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry searches. All costs for the checks will be borne by the York County School Division.
