Mrs. Kristen Saras

Coventry Elementary School Guidance

Mrs. Kristen Saras

Welcome to the guidance webpage for Coventry Elementary School!  I am excited to introduce myself as your new school counselor.  I received my Master of Education degree in school counseling at The College of William and Mary. I look forward to a successful year working together with dedicated parents, talented teachers, and especially the enthusiastic students here at Coventry!  My goal is to deliver a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the academic, personal/social, and career development needs of every student.

I hope to continue to share with you some information about the many services offered through our school counseling program. Please feel free to contact me at anytime regarding any questions, concerns, or if I may help in any way!

 Curriculum

The Coventry Guidance and Counseling curriculum reflects the standards set forth at the national, state and county level. The curriculum centers around three domains: academic, career, and personal/social.

 Classroom Guidance

Guidance lessons are presented in the classroom at each grade level throughout the year covering a variety of areas. Some of the areas include topics such as: friendship, understanding self, career exploration, understanding and recognizing feelings in self and others, study skills, individual differences/respect for others, preparing for transition to middle school, bullying and peer pressure.

Small Group Counseling

Students may be invited to participate in small group counseling based on the following topics: new student lunch bunch, deployment, friendship, anger management, changes in family circumstances, and study skills.  Enrollment is handled on a referral basis, by parents or teachers.
