We would like to welcome you and your child to first grade at Coventry Elementary School. We have put together some information that we hope you will find useful.

School Hours:

The Coventry school day begins at 8:45 a. m. and ends at 3:11 p. m. The building is open for children to enter at 8:30 a. m.

Lunch:

The children will be using their personalized computerized account number to purchase lunch in the cafeteria. Lunch and breakfast may be prepaid by the week or month, on Monday mornings. Your child may also purchase lunch daily by cash or check. Please use a labeled change purse, baggie, or envelope for lunch money.

Walk And Talk:

As children complete their lunch, they are escorted to the blacktop area behind the school for walk and talk. This is a time for walking and talking with their friends. It is not a time for playing with toys, balls or equipment. Running and organized play are not allowed at this time. Children will have P.E. activities or recess at another time each day.

Birthdays:

If you are planning to recognize your child's birthday with treats for classmates, please send the treats prior to lunch so that they may be distributed in the cafeteria.

Dismissal:

Children will be put on their regular bus unless they have a written note giving them permission for other dismissal arrangements. If a child is going home with a friend, both children must have written permission.

Homework:

Homework will be assigned for the week in the Home Folder. The Home Folder goes home nightly and should be returned to school daily. Returning the homework on time promotes responsibility. I will check to see that the homework has been completed.
