- Wee Deliver
Wee Deliver is a school-wide mail system.
Students in all classes can write, mail, and receive letters to and
from all other students and school personnel. You can surprise
your child with a letter by using our Wee Deliver mail system!
- Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books is open to
all fourth and fifth graders. Students may join any time and must
read 20 assigned books available in local libraries and in the front
office. Meetings to discuss the books are held on the first and
third Mondays in Oct., Nov., and Dec. from 3:15-4:00 PM. From
January – March meetings are held every Monday. Competition
takes place in April.
-
Student Council The BME Student Council
Association (SCA) is made up of 3rd, 4th, and 5th
graders. Each classroom selects a representative and an alternate
to attend monthly meetings. The meetings are held after school on
the second Tuesday of each month. A general election is held in
the fall for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders
to elect the Student Council President, Vice President, Secretary,
Treasurer, Reporter, and Historian. The SCA is a service
organization. It sponsors a variety of activities including a
canned food drive, family fun nights, and school spirit days.
- Safe and Drug Free
Club The Safe and Drug
Free club is open to all third and fourth graders who are interested in
learning to live a healthy lifestyle. This club meets on a
monthly basis-the third Tuesday at 3:15-4:00pm.
- Ecology
Club
The Ecology Club
is an after-school club where students participate in activities to
learn about the environment and ways to protect it. The school’s
wetland and courtyard areas are used as a source for exploration and
experimentation. A certified master gardener works with the fourth and
fifth grade students. Ecology Club meetings will be held the
first and last Thursday of each month.
- Safety Patrols
Safety Patrols apply for their positions and are selected
by teachers based upon specified criteria. Before and after school they
assist around the building to make the environment safer and more
orderly. Safety Patrol will meet on the second Wednesday of each
month.
- Lunch Bunch Book Club
The Bethel Manor Lunch Bunch Club is
made of students who love books! All fourth and fifth graders are
invited to join. Each month students read one of two pre-selected
books. Those students who read the books and pass the book’s AR
test with an 80% or higher comprehension score meet during lunch to
discuss the books. Students also meet after school to design ways to
advertise the books so other students will read and enjoy them too.
Posters are made, book talks are planned, and book reviews are written.
