Computer Systems Technology I (MCSE) |
| Computer Systems Technology I is the initial component of a program that prepares students to take exams leading to certification in the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer track. This course is designed for students who enjoy research and exploration related to the technical side of computer network technology in Microsoft Windows 2000 environment. In this course leading to Microsoft Certification, students are introduced to the Windows 2000 network system. Basic computer networking skills are explored. Concepts of network installation, implementation, and administration in the Windows 2000 environment prepare students to take appropriate Microsoft Certification exams. Average starting salaries for individuals with these certificates can be as high as $40,000. (Optional dual enrollment with Thomas Nelson Community College is available for this course. Students choosing dual enrollment are charged tuition and receive college credit as well as high school credit for successful completion of the course. Computer Systems Technology II (MCSE) |
| Computer Systems Technology II continues to prepare students to take exams that lead to certification in the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer track. This course builds on the networking concepts introduced in CST I, using Microsoft Windows 2000 networking environment. One semester of this course is classroom instruction and labs, and the other semester course is mandatory participation in a mentoring program with local area businesses. The mentorship provides an invaluable real world experience for students in an information technology environment. The classroom component of the course prepares students to take the appropriate Mcirosoft certification exam, leading to Microsoft Certified Engineer certification in the MCSE/Windows 2000 track. Together, the two course components position students for successful information technology careers with average starting salaries of over $40,000.
